On Monday, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul reacted to Dr. Anthony Fauci announcing his coming resignation in December.
Paul tweeted, “Fauci’s resignation will not prevent a full-throated investigation into the origins of the pandemic. He will be asked to testify under oath regarding any discussions he participated in concerning the lab leak.”

The senator and the virologist repeatedly argued during congressional hearings on numerous occasions. Fauci advocated for his “common-sense, good CDC-recommended public health policies.”

Fauci announced earlier on Monday he would step down as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), chief of NIAID’s Laboratory of Immunoregulation, and the president’s chief medical adviser.
“After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field,” he said.
Breitbart News reported Fauci’s resignation timeline was bumped up considerably since his comments in July, which indicted he would put off stepping down until Biden’s first term ended.
Fauci’s critics pointed toward the alignment of his announcement and Republicans vowing to investigate his work should they reclaim control of Congress in November.
Reports from a congressional hearing examining the origins of the coronavirus pandemic and gain-of-function research noted that multiple scientist witnesses contradicted Dr. Anthony Fauci’s claim that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) never funded gain-of-function research.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told Breitbart in December, “The top investigation — which I think will primarily be done on the Oversight Committee — is on Fauci and the gain of function and the lab leak, which is the most likely scenario how we got this virus.”
Likewise, the senator said in February, “if we will in November, if I’m chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we’ll go after every one of Fauci’s records.”
