In a decisive move to address illegal immigration, the White House revealed Friday that mass deportation flights are now underway. The announcement marks the fulfillment of President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to launch the largest deportation operation in American history, a strategy he claims is necessary to restore order at the southern border. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared photos on X (formerly Twitter) of immigrants being boarded onto planes, accompanied by statements underscoring the administration’s firm stance on illegal entry.

“Deportation flights have begun,” Leavitt stated. “President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences.” A similar post from the White House reiterated that Trump’s actions serve as a warning to those considering unlawful entry into the country.

The deportation flights come on the heels of a major Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation. According to Leavitt, ICE arrested 538 illegal immigrants on Thursday alone, including a suspected terrorist, several gang members affiliated with the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, and individuals previously convicted of sex crimes against children. Military aircraft are reportedly being used to expedite the deportations of hundreds of individuals as part of this large-scale operation. “Promises made. Promises kept,” Leavitt added, reflecting Trump’s commitment to his campaign pledges.

Earlier this week, Trump enacted a series of immigration-related executive orders aimed at addressing what he described as a “large-scale invasion” of the United States over the past four years. These measures included declaring a national emergency at the border and mandating the expedited removal of individuals who are in violation of federal immigration laws. Trump criticized his predecessor’s border policies, pointing to record numbers of illegal crossings and failures to enforce immigration laws.

“Over the last four years, the United States has endured a large-scale invasion at an unprecedented level,” Trump said, citing millions of illegal crossings. He expressed concern over the presence of “potential terrorists, foreign spies, members of cartels, gangs, and violent transnational criminal organizations” among the migrant population. The president argued that unchecked illegal immigration poses a dire threat to national security and vowed to act swiftly to reverse these trends.

Trump also highlighted the role of drug cartels in exploiting the porous border and announced their designation as terrorist organizations. Additionally, he ordered the continuation of border wall construction, emphasizing its role in deterring illegal crossings. “A nation without borders is not a nation,” Trump asserted, underlining the administration’s urgency to restore border integrity.

The shift in immigration enforcement marks a stark contrast to the policies under former President Joe Biden, whose administration saw record numbers of illegal immigrants entering the country after the rollback of Trump-era measures such as Title 42. Trump condemned Biden’s approach, arguing that it led to chaos at the southern border and a significant number of unaccounted-for migrants. “We have limited information on the precise whereabouts of a great number of these illegal aliens who have entered the United States over the last four years,” Trump said. “This cannot stand.”

The administration’s actions reflect its broader vision of strengthening national sovereignty, prioritizing public safety, and reasserting control over immigration policy. Critics may question the methods and scale of these efforts, but supporters argue they are a necessary step to address years of lax enforcement and unchecked illegal entry.
