Surrounded By Celebrities, Biden Laughs At Joke About Inflation Hurting Americans

During the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD) on Saturday, Joe Biden laughed at jokes aimed at the rising inflation, and the hardship it is having on American families.

The WHCD is one of the most high-profile events in DC, prompting celebrities and politicians to attend. It is usually held annually. However, COVID restrictions have prohibited the event from taking place over the past two years.

The controversy of Biden’s laugh revolves around comedian Trevor Noah’s “joke” about how inflation is “up.”

Noah said, “Since you’ve come into office, things are really looking up. Gas is up. Rent is up. Food is up. Everything.”

In the video, viewers can see Joe Biden laughing and clapping his hands.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Price Index, a key indicator of inflation, has now risen 8.5% year-over-year in March.

This news is coupled with even more alarming reports of the economy shrinking by 1.4%.

The White House has continued to blame Russia and COVID-19 as reasons for the shift in economic performance.

According to Gallup’s recent poll, “Americans’ confidence in the economy remains very low, and mentions of economic issues as the most important problem in the U.S. are at their highest point since 2016. Inflation, which registered as the top economic problem last month and continues to be, was previously at this level in 1984.”
