TRENDING: Biden Admin Says Suffering High Gas Prices Is ‘About The Future Of The Liberal World Order’

When speaking with CNN on Thursday, Brian Deese, Biden’s House Director of the National Economic Council, said Americans must understand the high gas prices, even if it causes Americans to suffer, is for “the future of the liberal world order.”

The comments were made during Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Newsroom” with co-host Victor Blackwell.

Blackwell noted how the war in Ukraine could continue for an indefinite number of years. He said, “The military analyst, the Director of National Intelligence, they say that this could be a long war, measured in years. And I think everybody understands why this is happening.”

He continued by asking, “But is it sustainable? What do you say to those families who say, ‘Listen, we can’t afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years, this is just not sustainable?’”

Deese responded by saying, “Well, what you heard from the President today was a clear articulation of the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm. But at the same time, what I’d say to that family, to Americans across the country, is you have a president administration that is going to do everything in its power to blunt those price increases and bring those prices down.”

Deese’s comments echo Biden’s remarks that were made earlier in the day. While speaking in Madrid during a NATO summit, Biden said Americans should expect to suffer through extraordinarily high gas prices for “as long as it takes. So Russia cannot in fact defeat Ukraine and move beyond Ukraine. This is a critical, critical position for the world. Here we are. Why do we have NATO? I told Putin in fact, if he were to move, we would move to strengthen NATO. We would move to strengthen NATOR across the board.
