Photographs of National Guardsman sleeping in parking garages while stationed in the Capitol have been circulating social media, leading House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to receive backlash from several top Conservatives. Pelosi had reportedly met with the Secretary of the Army and demanded 14,000 National Guard troops to be deployed to the Capitol.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called out Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Twitter, asking why American troops are being forced to sleep in a parking lot.

Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, Christine Pelosi, responded to McCarthy with Shhhh Don’s in Florida and off Twitter. You don’t have to rage tweet his deflections anymore. PS the Guard are out of the garage and back at the Capitol no thanks to you.” Christine’s response was in line with the current Democrat push to blame the need for National Guard in the Capitol on President Trump and anyone who supported him, although nothing has happened in the Capitol since the inauguration.

Some National Guardsman gave statements to news companies, expressing their disappointment in the situation as a whole.

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed.” – American troop currently stationed in the Capitol
