As Families Mourn, Democrats Use Texas School Shooting Tragedy To Push For More 2A Restrictions

On Tuesday, a tragedy unfolded as an 18-year-old gunman entered a Texas elementary school and shot dead 18 children and 3 teachers, bringing the death toll to 21.

The horrific event unfolded at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. The number of dead was confirmed by Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott soberly addressed the state by saying, “Texans across the state are grieving for the victims of this senseless crime and for the community of Uvalde. Cecilia and I mourn this horrific loss and we urge all Texans to come together to show our unwavering support to all who are suffering.”

He then went on to say, “We thank the courageous first responders who worked to finally secure Robb Elementary School. I have instructed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to work with local law enforcement to fully investigate this crime. The Texas Division of Emergency Management is charged with providing local officials all resources necessary to respond to this tragedy as the State of Texas works to ensure the community has what it needs to heal.”

In response to the tragedy, Democrats immediately began calling for limiting Americans’ second amendment rights. Democrat Senator from Connecticut Chris Murphy took to the Senate floor and demanded legislatures “find a way to pass laws that make this less likely.”

Senator Bernie Sanders also commented on the event saying, “The horrific rampage in TX once again makes clear that there are some very sick people in this country with guns in their hands who should not have them. Congress may not be able to end this problem, but we must at least pass commonsense gun reforms to finally protect the public.”

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) linked pro-lifers, responsible gun-owners, and second-amendment advocates with deranged mass-killers by saying, “there is no such thing as being ‘pro-life’ while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place.”

California Governor Gavin Newsome also used the tragedy to push limiting Americans’ second amendment rights by saying, “Another shooting. And the GOP won’t do a damn thing about it.”
