CNN’s Chief, Chris Licht, has reportedly left the network after a series of controversies during his short tenure. According to initial reports on Wednesday morning, the news follows a significant drop in ratings and revenue which resulted in several rounds of layoffs.

Licht was brought in to replace Jeff Zucker, who oversaw a massive increase in ratings while Donald Trump was in office but was no longer with the network when CNN’s audience began to decrease. The decline in viewership created a challenging situation for the network.

Furthermore, there have been internal complaints following the CNN Town Hall with former President Donald Trump. Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Licht was removed from overseeing the network’s business operations, indicating that Warner Brothers Discover CEO, David Zaslav, had lost confidence in Licht’s leadership.

The internal strife has now become public, and some of Licht’s subordinates have openly criticized him. In his newsletter, Oliver Darcy, one of the few employees who remained at CNN after others were let go, took a swipe at Licht.

Multiple outlets have cited sources familiar with the matter, confirming Licht’s departure. However, the future of CNN remains uncertain.
