On Tuesday, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, stood by his previous assertion that parents and doctors who give transgender therapies to minors should be imprisoned for life.
Musk’s comments came after a tweet about a 2016 story in which an 18-year-old male died during gender reassignment surgery. The surgery used part of the individual’s colon to make a vaginal opening, as puberty blockers halted his genital growth.
“This is super messed up. Mature, consenting adults should do as they wish, so long as they do not harm anyone else, but this child was too young for any kind of consent. Every child goes through an identity crisis, but leaping to a permanent solution that sterilizes them for life before they could possibly consent for themselves is wrong,” Musk said in response to the tweeted story.
What research?
Every child goes through an identity crisis, but leaping to a permanent solution that sterilizes them for life before they could possibly consent for themselves is wrong. Plain and simple.

Musk then referred to a comprehensive study in Sweden showing that suicide rates increased after sex reassignment procedures. “Death for sex-reassigned persons was higher than for controls of the same birth sex, particularly death from suicide. They also had an increased risk of suicide attempts and psychiatric inpatient care,” Musk tweeted.
Musk repeated his earlier statement that parents or doctors who offer such treatments should be imprisoned for life. Musk had previously remarked in early June that “Any parent or doctor who sterilizes a child before they are a consenting adult should go to prison for life”.
Back in June of 2021, Musk’s biological 18-year-old son, who identifies as female, broke off from the billionaire and sought a name change. Musk blamed far-left politics for his child’s distancing from him. According to Musk’s remarks in an interview with the Financial Times, he attributed the situation to “full-on communism and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil.”
