Following Wednesday’s appearance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in DC, conservatives raised concerns over sending additional billions of taxpayer money to the war-torn country.

Biden re-affirmed America’s commitment to send aid to Ukraine during a press conference at the White House. He claimed the support would be to sustain the sovereignty of Ukraine and their efforts to push back Russia’s advances.

Biden’s remarks were critiqued by conservatives who say America has done enough and that money should be used to help Americans.

“No more blank checks to Ukraine,” Republican Arizona Representative Andy Biggs said on Twitter.

Biggs, who is challenging Kevin McCarthy’s spot for House Speaker, went on to say, Zelensky says $45 billion in aid from the US is not enough. Not enough? What is enough? Enough with all of this.

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren said, “No more money to Ukraine!!! We can’t fight this war for you for eternity!!!.”

Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie blasted sending more monetary aid to Ukraine saying, “why is Ukraine funding buried in the bill that averts a shutdown of our own government? Why was previous Ukraine funding linked to hurricane disaster relief for Florida? Why is Zelensky speaking to Congress tonight? Because Americans are growing very weary of funding this war.”

Stand Together’s Vice President of foreign policy said, “It’s absurd how our elected officials repeatedly subordinate our interests and safety of our people to foreign leaders like Zelenskyy, who has been very clear his goal is to get America’s sons and daughters to fight and die in the war in Ukraine – nuclear Armageddon be dammed.”
