Pelosi Dodges Questions on VP Harris’ Suitability as Biden’s Running Mate

In a recent interview on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360°,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was pressed multiple times by Anderson Cooper regarding her stance on Vice President Kamala Harris as the ideal vice-presidential candidate for President Joe Biden if he decides to run for another term.

Cooper directly inquired, “Is Vice President Kamala Harris the best running mate for this president?”

Pelosi’s initial response highlighted President Biden’s confidence in Harris, stating, “He thinks so, and that’s what matters.”

Cooper persisted, seeking a more direct answer from Pelosi. In her elaboration, Pelosi emphasized Harris’s political acumen, saying, “And people don’t understand. She’s politically astute. Why would she be vice president if she were not? But when she was running for attorney general in California, she had 6% in the polls – 6% in the polls. And she politically, astutely made her case about why she would be good, did her politics, and became attorney general. So, people shouldn’t underestimate what Kamala Harris brings to the table.”

However, when Cooper once more sought a definitive stance from Pelosi on Harris as the best vice-presidential choice, Pelosi remarked, “She’s the vice president of the United States. People say to me, ‘Well, why isn’t she doing this or that?’ I say, ‘Because she’s the vice president.’ That’s the job description. You don’t do that much.”
