While the Former Vice President would have us believe the Afghanistan withdrawal was an “extraordinary success,” those within the White House have a different view.
After completely removing US military forces from the Afghanistan region in time to meet Biden’s self-imposed deadline, officials in the White House are expressing their horror over the entire event, saying they are “horrified” and “appalled.”
According to Politico, Not everyone in the administration shared the commander in chief’s confidence. “I am absolutely appalled and literally horrified we left Americans there,” one administration official told POLITICO. “It was a hostage rescue of thousands of Americans in the guise of a NEO [noncombatant evacuation operations], and we have failed that no-fail mission.” Another White House official said that the mission isn’t accomplished if they left Americans behind.
The complete withdrawal of US forces left 13 service members dead and numerous others wounded. Currently, there are an untold number of American and Afghan allies left behind in Afghanistan.
