A recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reveals that from 2019 to 2021, the federal government and state governments provided nearly $2 billion in funding to Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups.
This report was commissioned by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), co-chairs of the Pro-Life Caucus.
According to the report, Planned Parenthood affiliates received a staggering $1.78 billion in funding during that period, while four regional pro-abortion organizations received $107.74 million. International Planned Parenthood Federation and MSI Reproductive Choices, two major international pro-abortion groups, received $2.03 million and $1.35 million, respectively.
In addition to these funds, Planned Parenthood and its affiliates also received $90 million in forgivable loans through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a time when many small businesses were struggling and forced to close.
These findings have sparked debates on the use of taxpayer money for abortion-related services, as well as the role of government funding in supporting these organizations. The report highlights the significant amount of funding that pro-abortion groups have received, raising questions about the allocation of resources and the priorities of the government.
