Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines has endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for president during an interview with Newsmax’s “The Balance” with Eric Bolling. Gaines, a 12-time All-American athlete, made headlines this week after dedicating herself to defending and protecting “America’s daughters against the woke left and their gender-denying ideology.”
During the interview, Gaines spoke candidly about the impact gender ideology propaganda has had on her life. “I really understand the threat that we as Americans are under, just based off my own experience, and being forced to compete and change in a locker room with a male, as well as being physically attacked by a mob for simply saying that that’s unfair,” she said.
Gaines argues that the Biden administration is actively discriminating against women and girls throughout the U.S. “systematically.” She believes that the upcoming election is crucial for restoring and ultimately saving America and the people who live here. “So that being said, I’m so excited to announce that I am officially endorsing Governor DeSantis as president,” she declared.
According to Gaines, DeSantis’ leadership and his efforts to root out radical ideologies that are driving cultural issues affecting the breakdown of families, faith, and freedoms make him an ideal candidate for president. “He’s really taken on this political establishment, the woke corporations, the media, and he’s won,” she said.
Despite potential blowback, Gaines remained resolute in her decision to endorse DeSantis, stating, “I have the unwavering morals to know what I’m doing by endorsing Governor DeSantis is the right thing. It’s the right thing for me, it’s the right thing for women, it’s the right thing for Americans.”
Gaines’ endorsement comes at a time when the issue of transgender athletes competing in sports has become a hot-button topic across the country. While some argue that trans athletes should be allowed to compete based on their gender identity, others maintain that it creates an unfair advantage for biological males who were born with more muscle mass and physical strength.
As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it remains to be seen how Gaines’ endorsement of DeSantis will influence other voters. However, her outspoken support for his policies on gender ideology and other issues is sure to resonate with many conservatives across the country.
