In a dramatic confrontation in the halls of Congress, Representative Jamaal Bowman, D-NY, called out his Republican colleagues for their inaction on gun control in response to Monday’s deadly school shooting in Nashville.
The heated exchange was captured on video and began when Bowman accused Republicans of being “cowards” for not pushing for stronger gun control measures.
Congressman Thomas Massie, R-Ky., stopped midstride as he walked past Bowman and challenged him: “You know there’s never been a shooting at a school that allows teachers to carry?”
The debate quickly escalated into an argument with Bowman repeatedly emphasizing that more guns lead to more death while Massie advocated for firearms education and giving teachers the right to carry guns.
He wanted to discuss solutions to school shootings, but when I offered a solution he began shouting. When he asked for data, I gave him data, but then he just shouted more. Bring facts. There’s never been a school shooting in the hundreds of schools that allow staff to carry. https://t.co/jInj4GHBDL

Republicans won’t do SHIT when it comes to gun violence, but try to tell me to calm down.
NO.
We can’t calm down. People are dying everyday while we wait. pic.twitter.com/38mYYW9cgs

Both representatives took to Twitter shortly afterwards to offer conflicting accounts of the altercation. While Bowman tweeted that Republicans were refusing to take action against gun violence, Massie suggested that Bowman had failed to present facts on the matter.
