During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) criticized FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate for his refusal to discuss alleged audio recordings involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. These recordings purportedly involve conversations with a Ukrainian executive who may have bribed both Bidens.

Cruz referenced a report brought forth by a whistleblower last month, alleging that President Biden and his family were involved in a $5 million bribery scheme during his vice presidency. When Cruz asked Abbate to confirm the existence of this report, Abbate declined to comment.

Despite Cruz’s persistent questioning, Abbate maintained his stance, refusing to discuss the matter. This led Cruz to accuse Abbate of “stonewalling and covering up serious allegations of evidence of corruption from the president.”

Cruz also mentioned allegations made by Senator Chuck Grassley that the FBI possesses 17 recordings from an informant from Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company. Fifteen of these recordings allegedly involve conversations with Hunter Biden, while two involve Joe Biden. Abbate did not confirm the existence of these recordings.

Cruz’s questioning of Abbate continued for several minutes, highlighting the tension between the senator and the FBI over these allegations.
