The Trump campaign has issued a statement regarding Nikki Haley’s win in the Washington, D.C. Republican primary.

The statement, which was released on Sunday, criticized Haley’s victory as proof of her popularity with insiders and elitists, rather than a genuine reflection of support from the American people.

Haley, who served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President Trump, secured a symbolic victory in the nation’s capital, winning all 19 delegates at stake. The Trump campaign, however, was quick to dismiss her win, calling her the “Queen of the Swamp” in a statement.

“While Nikki has been soundly rejected throughout the rest of America, she was just crowned Queen of the Swamp by the lobbyists and DC insiders that want to protect the failed status quo,” Trump Campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a release.

The Trump campaign’s response to Haley’s win highlights the ongoing tensions between the two camps as they compete for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election. Despite Haley’s victory in Washington, D.C., she remains a distant second to Trump in the race for the nomination.
