Stacey Abrams is campaigning for the governor’s seat in “the worst state” in the U.S., according to her.
Over the weekend, Abrams addressed the Gwinnett Democrats’ Bluetopia Gala in Norcross, Georgia. According to the Gwinnett Daily Post, she blasted Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp for his policies and for not doing more for Georgia residents.

“I am tired of hearing about how we’re the best state in the country to do business when we are the worst state in the country to live,” Abrams told the audience.
She then contrasted areas where Georgia lacks “the best” standing – mental health, maternal mortality rate, a rising incarceration rate and declining wages.
Abrams’s remarks cut deep into Georgia Republicans’ longtime claim that Georgia is the best place for business in the nation.
“Brian Kemp doesn’t care about our families,” Abrams insisted, “or else he would be doing more to make sure that they were taken care of.”
She vowed that she would do it differently if she were elected governor.
“We’re going to make sure the state of Georgia does its job,” Abrams said. “We’re going to take care of our people in the state of Georgia.”
Her 20-minute speech also highlighted the expansion of Medicaid, ensuring college access to students, regardless of whether their documented or not and ongoing housing issues in Georgia.
When Abrams’s comments entered the virtual public square, Kemp tweeted, “Stacey Abrams may think differently, but I believe Georgia is the best state to live, work, and raise a family.”.
