Joe Manchin Stews Over Talk About Banning Gas Stoves, “Recipe For Disaster”

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) has some strong words for fellow democrats who think banning gas stoves is a good idea.

On Tuesday, the Senator who had infamously joined with Joe Biden to pass the incorrectly-named “Inflation Reduction Act,” took to Twitter to criticize leftists who are calling for gas stoves to be banned.

He said, “This is a recipe for disaster. The federal government has no business telling American families how to cook their dinner. I can tell you the last thing that would ever leave my house is the gas stove that we cook on.”

Manchin’s reaction follows a report from the US Consumer Safety Commission indicating a possible ban the food preparation appliance. They had cited possible health concerns related to a gas-operated stove, including asthma and other respiratory, cardiovascular, and heart problems.

Manchin went on to calling for officials to “reevaluate the commission” over their recommendation. He said, “If this is the greatest concern that the Consumer Product Safety Commission has for American consumers, I think we need to reevaluate the commission.”

Responding to Republican Texas Congressman Ronny Jackson’s pushback over the stove-ban, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) said, “Did you nkow that ongoing exposure to NO2 from gas stoves is linked to reduced cognitive performance.”

It seems that the debate revolving around stoves is just heating up. Others in the media have been pushing for a ban on gas stoves, including CNN’s Bill Weir. He said, “The science is showing us having a gas stove, in a small apartment especially with bad ventiliation, is like having a car idling there. If you have young kids, it can affect cognitive abilities, as well as asthma.”
