BREAKING: Jan. 6 Committee Votes To Subpoena Trump

On Thursday, the House Jan. 6 Committee, just hours before they were set to end their proceedings, voted to subpoena former President Trump.

The vote was initiated by outgoing Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney. The vote was 9-0.

Cheney, who was defeated during her recent election, said “Our duty today is to our country, our duty, and our Constitution. We can act now to protect our republic. So this afternoon, I am requesting that the chairman issued a subpoena for documents and testimony from Donald Trump about the January 6 attack on the Capitol.”

Trump responded through Truth Social:

The stunning step of subpoenaing a former President will likely be faced with challenges from Trump’s legal team. Additionally, the political move made by the committee may be unsubstantial, as Trump could simply not respond and allow the subpoena to expire.
