On Friday, a Texas National Guardsman tragically died while the soldier attempted to rescue migrants crossing the Rio Grande River.
Speaking to reporters, Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the body had been recovered. Additional details were said to follow after a further investigation was conducted.
Fox News’ Bill Melugin tweeted, “Multiple sources tell me a Texas National Guard soldier has just drowned in the Rio Grande here in Eagle Pass while trying to save migrants in the water. Texas DPS confirms, and tells me a body has been recovered. I’m told a statement will be coming out soon.”
