On Wednesday, former Vice President Biden’s White House officials announced Biden will speak at 7 pm tonight regarding “preserving and protecting our democracy.”
Biden’s remarks will be made during a Democratic National Committee event at the Columbus Club in DC’s Union Station.
Comments regarding Biden’s prime-time speech were made to Axios by White House senior advisor Anita Dunn and Deputy Chief of Staff Jen O’Malley Dillon.
Dunn said, “It’s from Capitol Hill because that’s where there was an attempt to subvert our Democracy.”
O’Malley Dillon told Axios, “You can expect to hear from him this evening … there is a lot at stake including democracy and that everyone has a role in that.” She went on to say, “The other thing that will be really important … people will be able to vote…democracy works to make sure every vote is counted.”
Dunn noted Biden’s choice of venue is “Because on January 6th we saw violence geared toward subverting democratic processes there.” She also said “It is an appropriate place to make these remarks tonight. The threat of political violence it’s something that unites almost all Americans and something we can all be united against.”
