In a recent email sent to CNN employees, network CEO Chris Licht announced that “CNN This Morning” co-host Don Lemon will be returning to his regular chair on Wednesday. However, following the controversial comments made by Lemon last week, he will undergo formal training.

In a statement, Lickt said, “I sat down with Don and had a frank and meaningful conversation. He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continuing to listen and learn. We take this situation very seriously.”

He went on to say, “It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with fostering a culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes. To that end, Don will return to ‘CNN This Morning’ on Wednesday.”

Don Lemon, the co-host of “CNN This Morning,” has found himself at the center of controversy after making comments about former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC). During a recent segment on the show, Lemon claimed that Haley was no longer “in her prime” at 51 years old.

The comment drew immediate criticism from Lemon’s co-hosts, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. It also prompted outrage from individuals across the political spectrum.

Haley herself responded to Lemon’s remarks during an interview with Fox News. She suggested that many American politicians were not in their prime and proposed a cognitive test for those over 75 who were running for office. In response, Lemon expressed discomfort with bringing age into the conversation.
