No Audience to be Present at DeSantis–Newsom Debate, States Fox

Fox News recently released additional details about the forthcoming debate between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom. The network has stated that the debate, which will be broadcast live from Alpharetta, Georgia on November 30, will not feature a live audience.

The 90-minute discussion, to be moderated by Sean Hannity, aims to delve into the divergent strategies adopted by the two governors. The network expressed that the debate will offer insights into their political ideologies and their aspirations for the country.

Sean Hannity will focus on a range of topics pertinent to each state during the debate, including the economy, immigration, crime, border issues, and inflation. According to Fox News, the absence of an audience will ensure both governors have equal opportunities to address each subject.

Earlier this week, DeSantis reiterated his call for a one-on-one debate with the former president during a town hall with Newsmax. He suggested an hour-long debate, stating, “We get the former president, me, let’s just have it for an hour.”

DeSantis made comments regarding the recent photos featuring Xi and Newsom, saying, “When I saw the photos, the thing that came to my mind was—you know, these are guys that are two peas in the pod with respect to COVID, draconian COVID policies.”

Newsom recently made a statement regarding a bilateral agreement aimed at curbing fentanyl trafficking. He said, “This agreement has the potential to save countless lives—including right here in California. This bilateral effort is an unmistakable warning to fentanyl traffickers everywhere.” However, DeSantis criticized the agreement, stating that China is aware of fentanyl being sent to Mexico and then into the United States, and accused it of being part of their national strategy to harm the country.

A TV ad narrated, “Abortion after six weeks will be punishable by up to five years in prison,” further stating that many women are not aware they’re pregnant at six weeks and criticized this as not being freedom, but rather DeSantis’s Florida. In response, DeSantis War Room, a rapid response team for Mr. DeSantis, called the ad a “sheer desperation” from Newsom and accused him of planning to lie about DeSantis’s record to deflect from his own failures.

The debate is anticipated to be a significant event in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, as both governors are potential presidential candidates.
