Ron DeSantis Launches White House Bid with Video Message

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for the presidency of the United States on Wednesday evening, according to a tweet from him. Earlier in the day, DeSantis had filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and released his official launch video at 6 p.m. EST. However, the platform initially glitched as hundreds of thousands of users attempted to tune in.

In the video, DeSantis expressed his concerns over the state of the country, saying, “Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The federal government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And the president flounders.” He went on to state that “decline is a choice. Success is attainable. And freedom is worth fighting for.”

DeSantis also talked about restoring sanity, normalcy, and integrity to society, communities, and institutions. “Truth must be our foundation — and common sense can no longer be an uncommon virtue. In Florida, we proved that it can be done,” he continued. “We chose facts over fear, education over indoctrination, law and order over rioting and disorder. We held the line when freedom hung in the balance.”

The Florida Governor concluded his speech by saying, “We showed that we can — and must — revitalize America. We need the courage to lead and the strength to win. I’m Ron DeSantis, and I’m running for president to lead our Great American Comeback.”

DeSantis joins a growing list of Republicans who have already declared their candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. While some are excited about his entry into the race, others have voiced their concerns over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Florida. Regardless, it’s clear that DeSantis is ready to fight for his vision of America and hopes to lead the country towards a brighter future.
