Controversial Georgia gubernatorial candidate Democrat Stacey Abrams said on Wednesday, “There is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks.”

This shocking statement was made during an appearance at an event in Atlanta’s Ray Charles Performing Arts Center.

Abrams went on to say, “It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman’s body.”

Her seem to be directed at Georgia’s pro-life laws that were enacted proceeding the Supreme Court ruling which overturned of Roe v. Wade. Georgia had instituted an abortion law, called “Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act” that prohibits abortions once a baby’s heartbeat can be detected in the womb.

Abrams had a history of supporting pro-life causes until she entered politics at age 30. In an interview on “The View,” Abrams was asked about what she thinks limits on abortion should be. Abrams said women should have the option to abort their babies up until the moment of birth if “health or life” is at risk.
