On Tuesday, during a Senate hearing on abortion, Senator Josh Hawley was accused of being “transphobic” and inciting “violence” for not saying men can give birth.
The exchange took place after UC Berkley School of Law professor Khiara M. Bridges continued to refer to a woman as a “person with a capacity for pregnancy,” while she was answering questions posed by Texas Senator John Cornyn. However, sparks began to fly when it was Senator Hawley’s turn to question Bridges. His line of questioning honed in on the way women are being described during her testimony.
