On Tuesday after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was sworn in for the second time, DeSantis gave a speech outlining his vision for Florida and possibly for the nation.
The all-but-confirmed frontrunner for the GOP Presidential nomination promised Floridians his leadership will ensure the state is “a promised land of sanity.” During his 15-minute address, DeSantis said, “We are proud to be citizens of the great, free state of Florida.”
He went on to say, “We reject this woke ideology. We seek normalcy, not philosophical lunacy.” He said, “we will never surrender to the woke mob. Florida is where the woke goes to die.”
DeSantis won the governorship with the widest margin in Florida’s history. His victory is largely seen as a blueprint for Republicans to follow, especially in light of the GOP’s lackluster performance during midterms.
At the close of his address, DeSantis said, “It’s the fire that burned at a cemetery in Gettysburg when the nation’s first Republican president pledged to his nation a new birth of freedom. It’s the fire that led a resolute president to stand in Berlin and declare, tear down this wall. Staring down the communists and winning the Cold War.”
