The jury trial of Derek Chauvin has concluded with the jury finding the former police officer guilty on all charges.
Minnesota was on edge during jury deliberations over a trial that focused on the death of George Floyd.
During deliberations, Minnesota had deployed around 3,000 national guard troops to quell any unrest that would arise as a result of the jury’s decision.
Closing arguments concluded yesterday and the court went into recess, giving the jury the opportunity to consider the evidence and arguments.
Defence attorney Eric Nelson voiced concerns of the partiality of the jury saying, “I just don’t know how this jury can really be… that they are free from the taint of this. Now that we have U.S. representatives threatening acts of in relation to this specific case. It’s mind-boggling.”
