Former Vice President Biden will deliver The State Of The Union Address Tuesday night, which comes during a time when the world is witnessing the unjust invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces.
Normally, the State of the Union addresses focus on topics related to domestic concerns. But with Russian Vladimir’s illegal invasion into the free democratic state of Ukraine, the focus of tonight’s address will likely address America’s response to Russia and America’s foreign policy agenda.
This speech comes after Putin threatened the West with nuclear war if the West were to directly intervene in his invasion. It is expected Biden will use his speech to further rally Western nations to build a “global coalition to fight against [Kremlin’s] autocracy”
During a press conference Jen Psaki said, “If you look back when President [Barack] Obama gave his first State of the Union, it was during the worst financial crisis in a generation. When President [George W.] Bush gave his first State of the Union, it was shortly after 9/11. Leaders lead during crises. That’s exactly what President Biden is doing.”
Many speculate Biden would rather talk about domestic initiatives that would serve to give him a boost in his sinking poll numbers. But, Putin’s aggression is overshadowing the Biden Administration’s ability to speak about top Democrat policies. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) said, “I think they’ve probably torn up the draft they had for the State of the Union and are realizing that issues are getting away from them.”
Blackburn went on to say, “And that they’re going to need to buckle down and do some hard work on these foreign policy issues. We’ve got a lot of countries now that are very upset with the U.S. because we’ve appeared weak and indecisive about how we were going to move forward against aggressors.”
