After President Trump was banned from nearly all of the big social media networks, residents in Spokane and the northern Idaho areas began requesting that their internet service, Your T1 WIFI, block access to Facebook and Twitter on their network.
According to Your T1 WIFI CEO Bret Fink, his company has been receiving many calls and emails from customers that do not want the sites available to them and their children on their home WIFI network.
In an interview with KREM, Fink stated that people who requested the block will lose access to the sites, clarifying that customers who wish to keep them will have no change to their internet services. “We’ve had customers asked to be blocked by it. That is what the email was about, so no we are not blocking anybody, only the ones that have asked for it,” Fink said to the station.
Your T1 WIFI sent an email containing their statement on the matter, “Our company does not believe a website or social networking site has the authority to censor what you see and post and hide information from you, stop you from seeing what your friends and family are posting,” the email went on to directly name companies that are involved, “We also don’t condone what Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, and Apple are doing … to Parler by trying to strong-arm them into submission.”
